Boomeran shaped vertical stabilizer
WebThe 787 is the latest and greatest in composite construction, optimized design, etc etc. It has a pretty sharp edged vertical stabilizer just like all other modern airliners. Surely if it made the plane more efficient/aerodynamic they would shape the vertical stabilizer in such a way to maximize that. WebThe vertical stabilizer is the fixed vertical surface of the empennage A vertical stabilizeror tail fin[1][2]is the static part of the vertical tail of an aircraft.[1] The term is commonly applied to the assembly of both this fixed surface and one or more movable ruddershinged to it.

WebMay 2, 2024 · What is a vertical stabilizer? A vertical stabilizer, often referred to as the 'tail fin,' is fitted to the aircraft's rear. This, along with the horizontal stabilizers, makes up the empennage. The vertical stabilizer is equipped with a movable rudder, which gives the pilots yaw control - the ability to turn the airplane left and right.
WebThe airfoil shape 510 of vertical stabilizer 500 provides yaw stability and anti-torque control while also minimizing flow separation and drag.
